When you think back about that first year of your child’s life, it seems like a blur. It feels like little Arden was just born yesterday but as you can see she’s quickly approaching that first Birthday already. Arden’s Mom takes lots of photographs of her in between the times that we do professional photos so she knows just how important it is to capture those little moments that quickly pass. I think it’s cute that Arden has her own personal clothing designer (her Grandmother) who makes such adorable outfits for all of our shoots. Capture these special times in their lives folks. It’s literally gone in a flash.
This is a cute little composite from one of our portrait sessions this week. Sometimes just a simple little wooden chair can facilitate a bunch of great expressions.
We are especially fortunate in this area to have a place like Riverwalk Carolinas to be able to enjoy. The scenery is gorgeous in the Fall and it’s the perfect location for a Fall engagement session. We had a great time photographing Jessica and Alex here. We played right up until sunset and ended with a little silhouette between the trees. Below are a just a few of our favorites from the session. Enjoy!
The term “Trash The Dress” sounds a little harsh doesn’t it? Especially after you’ve invested thousands of dollars in that dress. Well let’s put it into perspective or maybe I should say let me give you our perspective. You’ve bought this amazing wedding gown. You had bridal portraits done and worried the whole time about getting the dress dirty. They are GORGEOUS but they are not as free spirited as you may have wanted them to be. The Wedding Day has come and gone and the dress gets shoved back into the bag or shipped off to the cleaners for preservation. Why not have some fun with it before that preservation stage.
Our former Bride Erica knew that she had another vision in mind for that dress. She’s an avid equestrian and horses have been a huge part of her life since she was a little girl. A “Trash The Dress” Session was exactly what Erica had in mind. It wasn’t that she wanted to ruin her dress, she just wanted to wear it, play in it, and not have to worry about getting anything on it. We suggested the ASC Greenway for a location for the shoot because of it’s horse friendly environment and many wonderful locations that fit the look and style of Erica’s vision. She brought her horse Kate from miles away by trailer, we spent 2 hours walking the ASC Greenway and photographing in many different locations and ending the session with a ride across the horizon in one of the prettiest sunsets we’ve seen all year. Now the dress will go to be cleaned and who knows what Erica’s next vision will be for that dress … maybe a christening gown?
This is Brittany. She has more horse ribbons than she can count. She’s an avid rider and competes nationally across the country. We just knew that capturing her in her element would yield some stunning results.

Ever look back through old photos and get the biggest smile on your face when you come across that moment, that special place, that special person that makes your heart happy. I can remember going through my Grandmother’s and my Mom’s old photos and studying them for details, faces of people I new, family pets and so forth. Family history and details were learned and shared through our photographs from many generations ago.
This year we’ve decided to create a little family history of our own. Every year we spend time with Mom during the Holidays. We always look forward to her baking those Chocolate Chip Cookies from her old family recipe. She’s baked them for us while we were growing up, our children and now we have our first Grandchild to add to the mix. While looking at the old fashioned mixer sitting on the counter one morning we decided that cookie making with GG (Great Grandmother) would make a great story to capture and pass down for future generations.
We captured everything from the ingredients to the pile of cookies cooling on the countertop. Our 5 1/2 month old Grandson Blayden was in rare form as he handled the chocolate chips, covered himself in flour and entertained all of us during the shoot.
We’ll not only share what we captured online, we’ll create an album for the family as a keepsake to share. In our family it’s important to print the images we capture for future generations to experience.
