June Wedding at The Ivy Place | Allison and Cass

The wedding of Allison and Cass took place at The Ivy Place ” a place where history exists and memories are made” as is says on the banner. The Ivy Place is definitely that and so much more. Knowing Allison and Cass, I don’t think that they could not have chosen a better location or a better group of people to work with to bring their vision to life. I can honestly say that all the vendors we worked with that day were exceptional and all had the same common goal of doing everything within their power to make this the best day ever for our clients. A lot of the inspiration for this Southern Wedding came from Pinterest, from the signs to the do it yourself projects. Allison’s family provided the pallets and Lisa Wilson, The Ivy Place event planner painted and personalized most of them for the wedding The wine bottles with the Charleston Roses on the tables were painted and hand decorated by Allison. It seemed like every direction we turned that day had something personalized and meaningful that represented the two of them, their journey thus far and their future. We photographed a first look near the corner of the house near the beautiful flower gardens that wind throughout the area. The emotion in these images tell a story all their own. We love to have couples choose a First Look together before the ceremony. Of course we are a little bit selfish in saying that because of the wonderful photos we get but it’s not just that. It’s a time when they can have that special moment to themselves, hold one another tightly, say what they want to say to each other and prepare for that walk down the isle. We had a brief shower just before the ceremony as if to let everyone know who was in charge and then the skies opened up to beautiful skies so that the outdoor ceremony could go on as planned. Yellow roses stood in place among the wedding party as a memorial for those dear to them who would have been there. Allison’s Dad … so stoic through the whole ceremony. She remarked later how he never shed a single tear and reminded everyone to honor and appreciate their Dad’s because it was so emotional for her to have him “Give her away”. The sun was extremely hot that day but after the ceremony we stuck to our plan and headed down to the field where the tall grasses were. We just had to have a few special images of these two in the tall grasses before the reception. The setting, the time of day and the connection between them makes these some of the most beautiful images of the day. Lot’s of fun, well wishes, great music, food and cupcakes followed and we ended with a spectacular sparkler exit under the stars.
I’ll end this post with some of Mom’s comments: “Shirley (and Carol), thank you so much for being a part of Allison’s day – it was everything she wanted and more! The day was pretty much a blur for me – but now I can see it all—every step from beginning to end! The pictures are gorgeous! The one on the porch is going to be one of my favorites – and that was taken when I was on the other end of the porch praying for the rain to stop! I knew in 2010 when you did her senior portraits that you had to be a part of her wedding day!”
